Brown's Point is the exact spot where the Scots landed the Ship Hector in 1773. Pictou is known as the Birthplace of New Scotland
Browns Point was once the location of the end of a large railway crossing that crossed from Loch Broom over to Pictou. The railway station was town down about 1958, but the bridge remained for many years later. The bridge was eventually destroyed in a fire in 1993
