Pictou library banners

September 17th ...

On the 17th, four years ago, my heart and lungs were put on pause for 42 minutes while a team of very exceptional plumbers were bypassing a few (3) arteries.

So Benoît 2.0 is 4 years old now.

For my fourth re-birthday we, me and the love of my life Gaétane, went to the newly enhanced and renovated deCoste Centre for Art and Culture in Pictou Nova Scotia, 5 minutes from home, to see the Jim Cuddy’s Band.

This place used to be only a theatre venue but it’s been transformed in a major cultural centre.

A year ago I won the contract to create a series of six; 5 x 3 feet banners to be hanged to the rafters of the high ceiling of the Sunrise Reading Room for the New Library.

To do so, I painted 6; 36 x 24 inches canvas representing popular landmarks of the Pictou County Region, I afterword adjusted and scanned them to fit the banners ratio. The paintings and computer files were signed, sealed, delivered  (and paid for) earlier this summer.

In the next week or so, those banners will be installed when the construction is totally completed.

Going to the show yesterday, I found out that the original paintings are now on display in the theatre hallway in between to two double access doors to the theatre.

What an unexpected gift for a happy 4 years old child.

Thank you life
