I have painted these three paintings, of Carré Saint-Louis historical homes, in 2015. These are part of the most photographed buildings in Montréal.
30 years beforehand, I used to work as a restaurant manager at a fast-food joint, just a few doors down, on the corner of rue Saint-Denis.
I would park my car on that street for at least a year and rush-in to work without noticing those beauties standing right there.
Today we can blame our smart phones for not looking up, but in those days only failure to love and admire life is to blame.
So that being said (or wrote), it is by realizing this fact, that I found what is my purpose as an artist.
Like everything else in life, the answer lies within.
In order to touch someone else soul you have to visit your own.
All souls are connected and getting a clear connection to yours allows you a clear passage to the others. The more love you put into your art to more love you put into the world.
Knowing how have could have helped my twenty year old self, allowed me, eight years ago, to define my artistic purpose.
My first mission statement was to open the eyes of my viewers and encourage them to lift their heads from their phones and start looking at the beauties of everyday life so they can tackle their own challenges with their hearts filled with colours and love.
For sure that mission evolved throughout the years but remains true to my soul.
